Program Requirements

Whether you choose the Evening MBA Program or the Weekend MBA Program, students on average complete their degrees in 2.5 to 3 years. If a student takes two classes consistently every quarter, the program can be completed in 2.5 years. However, you have up to five years to complete the program. As a result, students are able to take time off due to a busy work or home schedule. As part of the Evening MBA Program or the Weekend MBA Program, you have the option to take classes in the evening, during the weekend, or during the day with full-time students; the only limitation is your schedule.

To complete the MBA program, students must complete 20 classes, plus Effective Leadership. Four major components make up the flexible curriculum. You choose what you take and when—based on your experience, education, and goals.

  1. Foundation courses focus on developing analytical tools and knowledge that support the rest of the curriculum. Students must choose one course from each category (Financial Accounting, Microeconomics, and Statistics).
  2. Functions, Management, and Business Environment coursescoverbasic business functions (finance, marketing and operations); management (decisions, people, and strategy); as well as the business environment in which firms operate. Students choose six courses from seven categories (Finance, Marketing, Operations, Decisions, People, Strategy, and Business Environment).
  3. Electives (11 courses) cover 14 concentrations, offering students the chance to explore a topic more deeply.
  4. Leadership training (1 course) is so critical that it is the only required class. All students must take Effective Leadership, where they work on such key leadership skills as self-awareness, effective communication, and leading teams.

Costs & Financial Aid

  1. Tuition: $5,524 per course (20 courses are required for graduation)
  2. Fees: $1,645 (includes charge for Effective Leadership, student activity fee, and transcript fee)
  3. Every student is eligible for financial aid. However, the options are different for U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, and international students. Chicago Booth does not grant scholarships to Evening MBA and Weekend MBA students.

U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents

There are three loan programs available to Evening and Weekend MBA students.

  1. Federal Direct Stafford Student Loan: The Federal Direct Stafford loan is available to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents who enroll in two or more courses each quarter.
  2. Federal Direct GradPLUS Loan: Graduate/professional students can apply for the Federal Direct GradPLUS loan. The Federal Direct GradPLUS loan is a credit-based loan and is subject to the same rules and regulations as all other federal financial aid programs. The Federal Direct GradPLUS loan is used in place of the private alternative loan.
  3. Private, credit-based alternative loan: All students can apply for a private, credit-based alternative loan. Students can borrow up to the cost of attendance (which is set by the financial aid office) minus any other financial assistance. The private alternative loan is used in place of the Federal Direct GradPLUS loan.

International Students

Chicago Booth is committed to providing funding/loans for our international students without a co-signer. More information will be available to students upon admission to the program.
